Target groups/Requirements:
Exceptionally gifted students who enjoy intellectual challenges and have a genuine interest in intensive exchange with other people and cultures. Scholarship students should also, for example, be willing to deal with topics not related to their field of study.
Schools and university lecturers, among others, can nominate candidates; first-year students can also apply directly. Candidates must then successfully complete a selection test/seminar.In addition to the relevant liaison officers, the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (SdV) is also represented at Paderborn University by its ambassadors, i.e. SdV scholarship holders currently studying at Paderborn University, who will be more than happy to answer any questions about the foundation and selection process for those interested in an SdV scholarship.

“Deutschlandstipendium” (Germany scholarship):
Students enrolled at one of the five state universities participating in Studienfonds OWL and sixth-formers and prospective students intending to study at one of the five universities.
The prerequisites for application are very good school or university grades and commitment to extra-curricular/external social activities.
Social Scholarship:
German and foreign students enrolled for a first degree at one of the five state universities participating in Studienfonds OWL. (Exception: Foreign students may also apply for funding for a second degree if they have completed their first degree abroad.) All sixth-formers and prospective students intending to study at one of the five universities are also eligible to apply.
The prerequisite for application for the above target group is that they can prove that they are experiencing financial or personal hardship beyond their control which threatens to compromise their ability to begin or continue their studies and that they have at least satisfactory school or university grades. - Stiftung der deutschen Wirtschaft e.V. Target groups/Requirements:
In addition to excellent academic grades, selection criteria include the ability to work in a team, a broad general education, good interpersonal skills, flexible thought processes and actions, openness to social problems and processes, independence and determination in solving problems, a sound sense of responsibility and a notable willingness to be socially involved.Liaison officer:

Target groups/Requirements:
The advancement scholarship for experienced professionals is a federal grant aimed at specialists with a vocational qualification and at least two years of work experience.

Applicants should stand out for their outstanding academic grades and political and social engagement. The foundation attaches particular importance to the advancement of women. Target groups/Requirements:
Support is given to socially committed young people who identify with social democratic values and achieve good grades at school or university. Particular consideration is given to applications from women, first-generation students and applicants with a migrant background.

Target groups/Requirements:
Support is given to German and foreign undergraduates and graduates (from the 1st semester onwards) with excellent academic grades. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate engagement in voluntary activities, wide and varied interests and a high level of motivation and that they identify with the values of the foundation (Christian Democratic).

Target groups/Requirements:
The foundation’s scholarship department supports talented, socio-politically engaged undergraduates and graduates from all disciplines who have a keen interest in the fundamental values of the foundation.
Support for students from non-academic homes, with a migrant background and from the STEM subjects (in particular women here).

The Hans Böckler Foundation supports students on behalf of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB).
Target groups/Requirements:
It provides funding for young people who are completing their “Abitur” (German university entrance qualification) on a second-chance education programme, gifted students and talented early-career researchers and junior academics. Evidence must be provided of a sense of civic responsibility, an open-minded political stance and active involvement in social, church and political organisations that share the objectives of the Hanns Seidel Foundation. Applicants should be expected to achieve an above-average degree based on their personality, talents and grades to date.
