Time management and dealing with procrastination | Lecture

Watching your favourite series instead of writing a paper?
Cleaning the flat instead of preparing a presentation?
Chatting instead of researching literature in the library?

Everyone knows the phenomenon: we just can't get ourselves to do one or two tasks, make a phone call, register for an exam, research literature, etc. Procrastination is a problem for many people, especially when studying, where a lot has to be organised by yourself. It is often equated with laziness and yet there are understandable reasons for this: For example, fear of failure, perfectionism, self-doubt or a lack of techniques for working independently. Being able to postpone something is initially a helpful skill that helps us to organise ourselves and not be dependent on our own impulses. However, if we no longer achieve important goals as a result, conflicts can arise for us.

In this lecture, you will learn the basics of time and self-management and get to the bottom of the causes of "procrastination". You will also learn about methods to help you get started with your work or exam preparation and stay on track.
