Ac­cess­ible cam­pus tour

For prospective students and current students, we offer a personalised, accessible campus tour. Together, we’ll explore the campus, show you the best routes from A to B and tailor them to your personal needs. You’ll get to know the lecture theatres and seminar rooms, whilst we provide you with practical tips and tricks on the spot to help you find your way around.

Activ­it­ies on cam­pus

Ac­cess­ible toi­lets and quiet rooms

There are numerous wheelchair-accessible toilets available on campus. You can use one of the relaxation rooms to take a break or give your back and legs a rest. These rooms also offer a private space for breastfeeding mothers to tend to their needs in peace and quiet. An overview of the rooms is available in the downloads section.

Uni Stairlift-Free

On the campus, the sports campus and around the W Building, there are specially designed routes that are optimised for wheelchair users, for example. You can find a clear overview in the downloads section: the routes are marked in red there, whilst the entrances are indicated by green dots.

Lifts

The university’s lifts are located at central points, also known as ‘hubs’. Three lifts connect building sections B, C and H, whilst others run from A to B and from A to D. Building E provides access from levels -1 to 5, and there are two lifts at the far end of N. New lifts have been installed in O and Q. Lecture theatres such as H1–H6 and D1–D2 are also accessible by lift.

Lec­ture theatres

The lecture theatres at Paderborn University are generally easily accessible to wheelchair users. However, the following are exceptions: lecture theatres A4, D2 (which requires a special key for the lift), C2 (access from outside) and B1 (or B2).

Ca­ter­ing

The Mensa (cafeteria and dining hall), the AStA offices and the ‘Grillcafé’ can be accessed via a lift near the cafeteria. The cafeteria has a number of tray trolleys available for wheelchair users, which make it easier for them to use the catering facilities.

Park­ing

Students and prospective students with a severe disability card may use the designated parking spaces located directly near the building. If you do not have a disability card, you may, in individual cases, apply for a temporary card issued by and on behalf of the university. For further information, please email s-m-b@upb.de

Hous­ing

Finding accommodation is particularly important for students with disabilities: Which flats are accessible? Who can offer support? The Studierendenwerk Paderborn lets out accessible flats, and there are also options on offer on the wider housing market. However, as demand exceeds what is on offer, we recommend planning well in advance.

NOVA – a low-stim­u­lus, ac­cess­ible work­space

In the Learning and Research Workshop of the Social Pedagogy Working Group, we are able to offer students a working environment that is as low-stimulus and accessible as possible on three days a week.
